EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from different treatment approaches. EMDR therapy is an integrative psychotherapy and uses a technique called bilateral stimulation to repeatedly activate opposite sides of the brain. Therapists often use eye movements, auditory tones or tactile tapping  to facilitate the bilateral stimulation. These eye movements mimic the period of sleep referred to as rapid eye movement or REM sleep, and this portion of sleep is frequently considered to be the time when the mind processes the recent events in the person’s life.

Individual Therapy

Are you having a difficult time handling the struggles in your life? Could you use an compassionate and trained professional on what you’re going through, or a non-judgmental ear just to listen? Do you think you could benefit the most from individualized attention? Are you hesitant to talk to others about your problems? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then individual therapy could be the solution you’ve been seeking. Individual therapy differs from group or alternative therapy methods in the way that you are the sole focus of a single therapist who helps you develop and achieve your goals for therapy.

IFS

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an approach to psychotherapy that identifies and addresses multiple sub-personalities or parts within each person’s mental system. These parts consist of wounded burdens and painful emotions such as anger and shame. These parts try to protect the person from the pain of the wounded parts. Parts may often be in conflict with each other and with one’s core Self, a concept that describes the confident, compassionate, curious, calm, creative, and clarity of the whole person that is at the core of every individual. IFS focuses on healing the wounded parts and restoring mental balance and harmony by changing the dynamics that create discord among the protective system and the Self.

IFS Informed EMDR

Integrating IFS into EMDR supports a consent based relational approach to treatment that helps support the complexity of an individual's internal system where they are. The combination of IFS and EMDR can enhance and support the repair between SELF and their protective parts while also receiving the benefits of EMDR.

Life Transitions

Change, even difficult change that is neither wanted nor expected, can influence personal growth. Change gives us the opportunity to see what we’re made of; to become stronger, more confident, and better prepared for what life throws at us next. With each new challenge, we develop new personal skills and obtain a greater awareness of ourselves, our families, and our communities.

PTSD

Posttraumatic stress disorder - also known as PTSD - is a mental health challenge that may occur in individuals who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event such as a natural disaster, a terrorist act, an act of war, a serious accident, rape, or any other violent personal assault.

Women’s Issues

If not addressed properly, these challenges can turn into burdens that often lead to anxiety, depression, and a lost sense of self.
