Welcome to Lake House Counseling! I’m so glad you’re here.
I became a therapist because I believe people have a natural drive to heal and grow. As a person-centered therapist, I have an individualized, empathic and strengths-based approach to psychotherapy. My heart is working with individuals experiencing previous or ongoing trauma, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and adjustment to challenging life transitions. I have extensive training utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
I have a holistic and coordinated approach to therapy, incorporating mindfulness, CBT, DBT, EMDR, and humanistic approaches. My goal is to partner with individuals towards establishing a steady and grounded approach to healing in a safe and comfortable environment. When I meet clients, I do with empathy, compassion and respect. I want therapy to be an opportunity to dig deep and work, but also at a pace that promotes both short- and long-term growth.
I feel privileged to be trusted to share in the stories and work of individuals during their most challenging times. There truly is no greater feeling of gratitude I feel towards my work and the people who make the decision to allow me to be a part of their healing.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Adrian College with a double major in Psychology and Biology. I earned a Master of Social Work degree from Grand Valley State University and have over 20 years of experience in the mental health field.
When I’m not at work, you may find me knitting, reading, watching my children’s sporting events or hanging out with my two rescue dogs, Tango and Sushi. I am a strong advocate and promoter of the bond between humans and animals and served on the Board of Directors at the Capital Area Humane Society for six years.
